Garden of the Gods June 24th

So many opportunities to be filled with awe!  It started raining and hailing on us here! So we went back to the visitors center and gift shop.  ((Traveling tip: Save the indoor fun for bad weather moments:)).   Storms seem to come quickly and pass quickly in Colorado! We watched a fun movie about how the formations came about. Then we took the shuttle back and did the walk around all the beauty!  Climbing rocks is a family fave! There were a lot of "Mom, take my picture" moments!  Contemplative Elli Kissing under the Kissing Camels  Sorry if you don't like PDA ;)

Whit's End + Uber Rides June 23rd

A precious (rare) moment with the bishop bros Monday morning The 3 youngest kiddos and I went on an early morning hike Our van had some lights come on the dash somewhere between Kansas and Colorado so we decided it would be best to have it looked at. Brad and his team at Aspen Auto Clinic were incredible! They looked over our vehicle and determined all was well and didn't charge us anything!  The kids experience their first uber ride (some of them kept calling it a taxi!) For the handful of hours the van was in the shop, we went to Whit's End. As a product of a child growing up in a Christian home in the 1990s, I spent hours upon hours listening to Adventures in Odyssey. This is a place I have dream of going since I was eight. It was so fun to experience with my kids as they have been listening to our (my siblings and my) old cds! WodFamChocSod iykyk

Settling in at the Haven June 22nd

Last fuel up for now... Scrubbing off the bugs  "The Rec Room" aka the boys dream space  🙌 All the kids got their own rooms! Asher and the Moose taking bubble baths!  "Josiah's chair" he sat here everywhere to wake up:) The many faces of Asher:  Mrs. Judy reading to the boys before bed on the first night!  Package from Mimi and Papa! Time for a full nights sleep!  Matt and I have been talking a lot about "home." It's a place of peace we can, with the Holy Spirit's help, work towards inwardly even when the external environment or circumstances are intense or hard.  "We are meant to live here, hidden with Christ (Col. 3:3), rooted in love (Eph. 3:17). This is our truest place.  Home begins in Eden , and its memory lingers in us. As Frederick Buechner writes, “At the innermost heart… there is peace… Eden is there. Home is there.” Degroat If you want to read more about it here is a link to Chuck Degroat's substack with an abridged vision...
