Grand Canyon: South Rim Sunset Tour July 1st
Grand Canyon: South Rim Sunset Tour
If you know me you know I have strong convictions, but I am also a middle child and like to keep the peace. So the last thing I want to do is argue with someone why I believe what I believe and why they should believe it too. NOW, I will share what I believe and invite questions and conversations, and I want to hear your thoughts too. That is EXACTLY what David did on our tour. He was not pushing anything, he was simply explaining scientifically and biblically how the canyon was formed. He said more than once some along the lines of "here are the facts and evidence, you can make your decision."
But if you have the opportunity to go to the Canyon, I cannot recommend this tour more! Whether you believe in the Bible or not, you will be welcomed and I am sure will enjoy. Based on our experience/Asher's needs probably would recommend 8 and up. Josiah did start getting a little disengaged at some points. The girls (10 + 12) were ALL in!
If you know Asher, he has been talking about going to the Grand Canyon for months and months. He finally made it!
As David started talking about the flood a rainbow appeared in the sky. It was incredible to be hearing about God's saving grace through the ark and the reminder of His promise to never flood the whole earth again.
I love this quote from the Jesus Storybook Bible by Sally Lloyd JonesWhat grace that God planned beforehand a Rescuer that would save once and for all any who would repent and believe! His loving arms open wide. His hand over His eyes watching for you like the dad of the prodigal in Luke 15, ready to run and embrace you and throw a party for you! Don't let anything hold you back from this love and grace!
You can definitely expect a post by Matt and these girls at some point this summer sharing the details of what they learned on the tour! Elli was sharing with some camp site friends the next day after we got back! It was so awesome to hear how she took so much in even when I couldn't.
Our big 8 year old enjoying the bus ride!
These brothers are best friends who fight a lot. But what's cool is they want to be together and they want to grow and work things out. I'd be lying if I said there weren't times on this trip the rest of the family members were OVER their dynamic. But as I've stepped back this past week, I've found many things to be grateful for and admire about these two buds.
Their determination and persistence for sure are great qualities.
Their quickness to forgive is so convincing! I'm like man if my friend just wailed me like that I'd be keeping my distance for a couple hours (or days) but most times they hug it out and move on.
There's more but suffice to say, they are pretty cool dudes and I have a lot to learn from them as I try to teach them.
Like Paul David Tripp says, "We are more like our kids than unlike them." That will keep you humble 😅
A sweet new friend on the tour took this picture of Elli taking a picture haha
We all agreed, the Grand Canyon, was well, quite Grand.
