Buncombe, IL: Tall Tree Lake Campground

 More flexibility needed as we began shifting campsites around to accommodate for the long day we had Thursday. Friday needed to be shorter, and Saturday longer. 😎 

I found this cool app called Hipcamp that I used for our bookings. (Sort of like Airbnb but for campsites). So thankfully swapping things around wasn't terribly difficult. We ended up in Illinois by a beautiful lake with sketch bathrooms, tall itchy grass, and a precious little fawn running through the field..

The 3 big kids were so helpful taking turns playing with Asher while we set up and took down camp! 





It was much closer to Josiah's birthday than Ashers, but we got him a bug catch we wanted him to have some fun with on the trip. Sorry bugs😬

Well, "Big Daddy" and "Little Mama" got a 2 hour nap.  Asher had us up at 6 just like any ordinary day!  Birthday Time picture: 9:02am... We got back to packing right away but really didn't get on the road until close to 10, approximately 2 hours later than the goal, but flexiblity is something God is working at in all of us so, the way we look at it, we got an early start on that for this trip! Another theme the Lord has been working on Matt and me... becoming more childlike and not taking ourselves too seriously. Life is a lot more fun this way... and it's biblical so win win Summer Birthday Bros (We started the trip on Josiah's 8th birthday and we will end it the evening before Asher's 5th!)Ha Pure exhaustion... plenty of complaining and gripping to go around. The Night Before a Cross Country Road Trip

We have been dreaming up and planning this trip for well over a year. We started inventorying gear, clothes, coffee supplies, and more in the early months this year. I began stocking up on snacks on sale at Costco a couple months ago. For the last 3-4 Saturday and Sundays doing car maintainance, ordering anything we needed but didn't have, laying out clothes, gear, and more. If you came to our house we are sure you saw a glimpse into the chaos. If you didn't, I'm sure you can imagine in all in a cozy home slightly over 1000 sq ft! Well June 18th came, Josiah, Elli, and Eden spent the day with friends and Asher was at school! In the evening our dear friend Leah came over for dinner and ended up cooking it for us and helping us pick up the kids! I truly don't know how we would have pulled it all off! Wild Windy Kansas and the Fruit of the Spirit: June 21st-22nd

Hi friends, blogging took a back burner with our week in Colorado! But I'm here to catch up:)  Matt has been a trooper driving in some INTENSE wind through Missouri and Kansas. I hurt my hand and really couldn't drive and keep us safe in that weather. 😔 Elli is having fun developing her her photography skills  I looked back at Eden on the drive and asked why she was smiling so big and she said "I'm just so happy!" Lost my bike tire at some point along the way... We decided to spend the 9 weeks of the sabbatical going over the Fruit of the Spirit! They kids did an amazing job drawing things that are beautiful! God's character perfectly and beautifully displays this fruit, we are praying we can imitate Him in that!   My bed buddies
